Our State Fair

We ventured to the Great State Fair of Oklahoma last night... in the rain. It wasn't the usually exciting experience it's been many years before, but it was still a Great time- no rides, wet corn dogs, and all!

I have 2 favorite things that mark the changing of the seasons every year: The Arts Festival ringing in Springtime & The State Fair to celebrate Fall. The Fair has always been one of my favorite things to do- it has a certain romance about it. A celebration of all things fried, free yardsticks, flashing lights on the midway, cheap stuffed animals, riding to the top of the Ferris Wheel & Needle looking for Dad's house in all the green treetops. One year we actually had to break out the jean jackets because the chill had arrived! I have such fond memories of the right of Fall that I want to give those memories to my kids. And, this year was a memory- complete with soggy shoes!

What was left of our fair food: corn dogs, pork burger, roasted corn, root beer jug, funnel cake, carmel apple, gyro, & cinnamon rolls to-go. Really, why go for anything else?

We would have loved to ride the rides, but had to settle with the Rainbow Playsystems playground display. The kids were happy, that's all that matter.

Gus was thrilled to find a horse with the same name!
I was thrilled he recognized his own name!

Ladybug was checking out the newly hatched chicks. And, by the looks of it, she really like it when they waddled her way.

The new piglets. They can sympathize.
